Mayokun Thompson (Mayor Thompson) was born in Lagos, Nigeria. Lived with a single mother and a brother with quite a number of relatives.
​
At an early age of five he grew up with he's cousin's and grandparent. His Grandfather was a prince and a well known Talking Drum player, grandmother was a cook and known for her singing when she's in the kitchen. Cousin's and relatives had different art and musical talents which they either exhibited at home mostly. He had passion for playing an old toy (piano) which only pushed him to start singing old songs such as "StylePlus, Ayefele, Ebenizer Obey, Cobhams ft rooftop MC's, Asa, BankyW, etc".

Has he grew his attention was drawn away from music as reality hit him and he began to do science in high school. Only to realized later that music had been there from the begin and won't leave him.
​
At early Senior Secondary School in Lagos, he accepted his true nature and also pursued science. After several saxophone performances at Schools' meetings, Sport parades, and several countless times of playing piano at church, he found he's uniqueness in songwriting and decided to sharpen his craft.

The single GLASSES TO SEE was inspired when he fell into a one sided relationship. Which exposed him to true human feelings and questionable intentions.
